It’s a century old favorite – a redesigned icon of 108 years – the Converse Chuck ll Mono. So, it’s both comfortably familiar and thrillingly strange. Needless to say, I loved its feel on my feet.
From the bestselling basketball shoe in history, the Converse Chuck became the kicks for rebels – rappers, rockers, you name it.
Of course, the downside of an over 100 year icon is that you can’t expect it to have the most ergonomic design. If you wear it long enough, soles and heels can hurt.
However, its most recent incarnation, the Converse Chuck ll Mono, scores high on comfort – sporting a new Lunarlon insole, foamy and springy with a no-slip memory foam-padded tongue, foam-padded collar plus a perforated micro suede lining.
While the kicks felt snug, it didn’t constrict my feet. And if it’s this comfy, I’m confident I can trek for miles and miles on it.
I favored the old look too, so I’m glad the Converse Chuck ll Mono retained the familiar classic style, just streamlining where necessary.
What I liked most was that it’s so much easier on my feet. Its sturdy premium canvas made it tougher, supporting my ankles well.
Add to that, I believe these shoes will last longer, being very well constructed on the outside. The top appears sturdy and the rubber bottom looks like it won’t tear with ease. Also, the tongue doesn’t crimp.
